The Wright Brothers Room Renovated 2018
It all started in 1903, when mankind's dream of sustained flight was finally realized at Kitty Hawk, North Carolina. Orville and Wilbur Wright, bicycle mechanics and engineers of the highest order, had achieved what many thought was impossible -- powered, controllable flight.
Despite horrendous conditions, working with grease-spitting engines and spinning propellers, the brothers never lost their Victorian sense of decorum. Dapperly dressed in bowler hats and stiff-collared shirts, the brothers looked as if they were heading off to church.
Instead, they flew into history...
Powered by an engine of their own design, the Wright Flyer was a wonder of the age. Dual, chain-driven counter-rotating propellers mounted on long, delicate-looking wings, carried the pilot into the unknown. With skids to land upon in the sand, the Flyer was piloted from a prone position -- a position chosen to minimize wind resistance. The entire first flight lasted just 12 seconds, and covered a scant 120 feet.
Our pet friendly ($30/dog, per night, up to a maximum of $100 in any month) Wright Brothers room carries on with their sense of style and decor. With two queen beds, a refrigerator, microwave, hair dryer and single-cup coffee maker, the Wright Brothers room surrounds you in comfort. Artwork from the period, reflecting and honoring the brothers great achievement, completes the look and feel of this room.
Your stay will include our signature "delivered-to-your-room" continental breakfast basket, made up of a variety of fresh bakery items, fruit-cup, granola bar, coffee or tea. This room is directly across from our tenderly cared for pool and grilling area.
